Fodder Factory opened for business in Coimbatore on April 11th, 2009 as a fine-dine multi-cuisine restaurant under the flagship company, Unimech Enterprises (India) Private Limited.
The most common, in fact the only question people ask us is “Why ‘Fodder Factory’? The idea of starting a restaurant had been in the making for over a year. The most difficult part was not the menu, which was done in a couple of hours. But it was the name. It had to be unique. It had to be something that people talked and SMSed about with exclamation marks and stuff! Fodder means food. No really, it does. We Googled it. But then that was animal feed. Still, it would certainly raise an eyebrow. And that was good enough for us.
The first few days saw us living our worst nightmare. We were like fish out of water, not being able to serve a single produce on the menu in any time less than 40 minutes. And as Murphy’s Law had a field day, most of the guests left disappointed. We sat our seatables down and were determined to find ways to provide quicker service to the customers. We strengthened our workforce. And the rest, as they say, ‘What an Idea Sir Ji‘! The response was overwhelming. The feedback was awesome! The restaurant has a diverse lunch and dinner menu, with 70 covers. We remain closed on Mondays (so that our Chefs don’t take leave and take us back to square one).
It’s the only restaurant in Coimbatore that serves Spanish, Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Mughlai cuisine under one roof. Some of our specialties are the Tacos, Spanish Meatballs, Vegballs for the Herbivorous, Cannelloni, Enchiladas, Chicken Stroganoff, Shepherd’s Pie and Chicken Steak. Among the desserts, our Cheese Cake is drooled upon, while other favourites are also part of the menu.
With neat décor, great ambience and good music, there aren’t many better ways to spend one’s time eating a meal.
